Demetrio Alvarado worked on the construction crew when the Beaver Dam High School was first built in 2004. At that time, he was an employee for Longview construction. He worked for Longview for six years and completed all of the concrete work on the school from parking lot to foundation and beyond. He’s been running heavy machinery and concrete finishing for 20 years.

In the past year Alvarado has expanded his talents to include landscaping, brick paving and is now back as the Kokopelli construction foreman on the groundwork for the Beaver Dam Beautification Project which broke ground on May 31.

On Tuesday, June 7 Alvarado and crew were working to complete the necessary digging required to lay in water lines and plant the ash trees that were delivered that day by Star Nursery employee Keith Powers. The trees and Alvarado’s work on the beautification project was all spearheaded by the Mesquite Rotary Club, Linda Gault and her Beaver Dam High School Interact Club.

Beaver Dam Jr./Sr. High School students and Interact Club members were busy volunteering their efforts toward cleaning up the hillside and ridding it of boulders and other large rocks and debris.

Members of this project are now looking for volunteers to help plant the 14 trees and dozens of other plants that will be put in the ground on Friday, June 10 early in the morning.
