Lawrence “Larry” A. Jones, 81, of Mesquite Nevada went home to be with his Jesus on June 4, 2016. Larry was born November 22, 1935 in Lexington Kentucky to parents Lawrence and Grace Jones. He has one sister, Edna Jones. On April 30, 1988 he married his precious wife and soul mate Darlene Alberti at Treasure Island, California.
Larry retired as Senior Master Sergeant from the US Air Force after 26 years of service to his country. After which He spent 16 years working for the San Francisco Chronicle and 10 years at the Fresno Bee as a Retail Advertising Sales Representative and National Advertising Manager.
Larry and Darlene moved to Mesquite in 2009. They are active members of First Baptist Church, of Sun City, and volunteers at the Virgin Valley Community Food Bank. Larry loved golfing, gardening, the Kentucky Wildcats, wine and his two adorable puppies, Faith and Luke.
Larry is Dad to Billy Jones of Lexington, Kentucky; Kim Zoeller (Kenny) of Greenwood, Missouri; Christopher Jones (Melissa) of Manteca, California and Ernie Jacobsen Jr. (Melba) of Castro Valley, California; and Papa to 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Edna.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mesquite, 700 Hardy Way on June 15, 2016. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Mesquite Caregivers Support Group, P.O. Box 1436, Mesquite, NV 89024.
Larry was loved by so many and he will be sorely missed. I know he is rejoicing to be home at last and spending eternity with the Lord.
