During the weekend of April 29-May 1 eight Interact students accompanied the Mesquite Rotary Club to Mexico to help build homes for four needy families. The houses were all built in a single day. This project is called ‘Super Build.’

There were approximately 200 Rotarians from around the district who took the weekend trip and built four small homes. The Mesquite Rotary group was with about 40 other Rotarians on the build in a small village called Cerra Azul.

Linda Gault, Mesquite Rotary member said, “The teams go down on Friday and spend the night in the San Diego area, cross the border early the next morning and build the home in a day. There is no electricity nor running water, but everyone works together to finish the project and present the family with a home. Everyone returns across the border late day on Saturday, spends the night again, and then travels home on Sunday.”

Ken Atwood, BDHS teacher advisor, has gone all five years that the Rotary Club has been doing this.

Rotary meetings are held every Tuesday from noon to 1 pm at the Holiday Inn Express in Mesquite, NV. For more information on how you can become a Rotary member visit their website: www.mesquitenvrotary.org
