BeaverDam-05-19-16Arizona Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an emergency landing of a personal aircraft late Monday morning, May 16 near Beaver Dam in the desert area north of Interstate 15 and south of the Virgin River Gorge. At about 11:56 a.m., deputies responded to a passerby reporting a small plane that went down.  Shortly thereafter, a person onboard the plane called reporting that everyone is okay.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a Cessna fixed wing single engine that suffered minimal damage from the emergency landing.  The father and son team were traveling home to La Jolla, Calif. from the St. George airport in Utah when they smelled an electric burn.  The pilot Dylan Tobias, 20, descended and landed the plane safely in the desert area without any injuries to himself or his father, Eric Tobias, 57.

The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) have been notified.
