IRACE – CLARK WIN LATE SNOW CONTEST

Welcome new member Ray Halicka. And a special welcome back to Dick Swayne.

With a late spring dusting of snow high on the Mesquite mountains Bill Irace and Russ Clark showed off a late golf blossoming of their own at Falcon Ridge on Tuesday. Irace shot a nice one over par 36 on the front nine and a decent 42 on the difficult back for 78 and medalist honors four shots better than Bubba Petrick and Frank Thomasino. Russ Clark continues to show off his improved game winning low net 64 shooting excellent nine hole gross scores of 42 and 41. Frank Thomasino (82) was only one shot back with his net of 65. One shot back of Thomasino was Jim Anderson (88) and net 66. Don Mannon (84) and David Shaw (88) were tied for fourth at a net 68 which Mannon won with a par on hole 13. New member Rick Jackson won for the first time as he shot 100 and netted a 70. Gary Denhalter (92), John Meyer (87), Ben Bishop (85) and Jim Smith (87) were all tied for that illustriate last place with net 71 which Smith won with a par on the first handicap hole.

ANDREA YEH BRAKES LADIES RECORD

The MMGA played their annual net tournament with the normal middle tee players facing off against the forward tee players. The kicker was that all players teed it from the red ladies’ tees. Andrew Yeh, who normally tees it up from the furthest back tee box, had a field day. On the front nine at the Canyons he recorded eagles on holes three and five and birdies on one, seven and eight for a ladies’ record setting score of seven under par 28. He felt so guilty that he shot 10 strokes worse on the back for 38 a net total of 66. That was not the best low net score. Willie Nelson representing the gold tee players shot a gross 86 for a medalist low net of 65. But the “goldies” were crushed by a stroke total of 941 to the middle tee players 928. More middle tee players shot under their handicaps than the gold players. End of story.
