A long track season for Virgin Valley High School Bulldog track athletes culminated Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21 in Carson City at the Nevada 1-A Division State Track Meet. Bulldog men’s hurdler senior Kai Mitchell placed in both hurdle events. Mitchell placed third in his specialty, the 300 meter hurdles and fifth place in the 110 meter high hurdles. Mitchell had all four Bulldog team points.
On the women’s side four Lady Dawgs placed in the top eight in five events. Hurdler Abigail Barnum placed third in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles. Senior Dylan Bryant, in her third straight state meet, placed seventh in the pole vault. Senior Kaydee Bingham placed sixth in the triple jump and weight man Bernice Fiso had an eighth place finish in the discus. The Lady Bulldogs placed eleventh in the meet out of 18 teams with a score of 11 points.
