The Virgin Valley Artists Association held their annual ‘Splendid Tea Party’ on Thursday, March 31 at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery to benefit the VVAA art scholarship program.

The gallery was full of ladies and gentlemen who fully support this and other art programs sponsored by the VVAA.

Guests were treated to a variety of delectable treats both sweet and savory. They enjoyed cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches and roasted red pepper, butternut and Feta Quiche, frosted brownie cakes, chocolates and Baklava. And of course there was a lot of traditional tea.

Ladies were encouraged to wear their best decorated hats for the Best Hat prize award which was a lovely basket of goodies won by Susan Schultz who did an outstanding job on a garden themed hat with plenty of flowers and birds; perfect for a garden tea party. This was the first time Schultz attended a tea party hosted by the VVAA and she said, “Everyone is having such a terrific time! The food was delicious and there were so many wonderful people.”

Local Sun City artist, Judith Hetem made beautiful ceramic tea cozies for everyone who attended and biscuits dipped in chocolate to dip in the tea. Mesquite Show Girls were graciously greeting guests in some of their beautifully designed period costumes and looked quite regal in their Victorian gowns.

The afternoon was quite the success and the VVAA appreciates all those who helped to support their scholarship program.
