WARNER HAS GREAT WIN

“I can’t remember the last time I played a round of golf so easily”.  This was the comment of Lyle Warner after he shot rounds of 45 and 46 at the Palms golf course on Thursday.  His long awaited solid rounds were rewarded with a first place low net score of 69.  “I finally was able to keep my drives in the fairways and out of the bunkers “, was Warner’s explanation for his fine round.  Congrats Lyle, no one deserves it better than you!   Bill Nelson (94) took a tie away from Joel Reilly (91) for second low net at 71 when he birdied the first handicap hole the par five 4th.  Don Mannon (86) coming off that great round of 78 in Tuesday’s Spring Master’s, earned the 4th low net with 72.  Tom Durenberger (85) shot par, bogey to steal the 5th spot from Ed Hoepfner (86) who parred and shot something worse than a bogey for 6th.

Tim Bergstrom and Tom Durenberger had the shots of the day.  Bergstrom was laying five in the middle of the 4th fairway after hitting his tee shot and third shot in the water.  His gap wedge, from 133yds out, landed on the green and rolled up to the cup and dropped for a bogey six.  Durenberger, on the par four ninth hole had sunk a 96ft birdie putt last Thursday.  This week he drove his tee shot in the water.  Hit his third shot stopped short of the green.  From 20yds out he chipped on to the green and rolled it some 40 feet up the slope and “jarred” it for a par.

The next scheduled play is Thursday Aprill14 at 6:30 at the CasaBlanca. Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 702-346-5636.  Also check out our website at www.mesquitemensgolf .com.
