Jensen, Mitchell, Bingham lead Bulldogs at Crusader Quad meet

The Virgin Valley High School track and field teams traveled to Faith Lutheran on March 29 and came away with season bests. The Bulldog boys were led by Reid Jensen and Kai Mitchell who garnered first in their specialties. “Reid Jensen had an outstanding day,” said Bulldog coach Gary Hartman. “He swept the throws with two personal bests.”

Mitchell continued his domination of the 300 meter hurdles winning easily and took first in the high jump. Other point getters for the Dawgs were Nick Cox with second place finishes in the 400 meter dash and triple jump and a third in the long jump, Charles Erickson placed second in the pole vault and Danell Wilkins was edged in the 110 meter high hurdles.

The Bulldogs had 65.5 points, good enough for third behind Sunrise Mountain (75.5) and Clark High School (67) points.

“On the girls side Kaydee Bingham had her best meet of the year,” added coach Hartman. “She won the long jump and the 200 meter dash and ran legs on the winning 4X100 and 4X200 relays.”

Abbie Barnum won the won the 300 meter hurdles, placed second in the 100 meters and ran legs on the winning relay teams. Dylan Bryant captured the pole vault. Elizabeth DeLeon and Emma Barnum contributed to the winning 4X100 winning team. Emily Teerlink and Macee Bundy ran legs on the 4X200 relay team. Bernice Fiso added seconds in the discus and shot putt. The Lady Dawgs scored 73 points against meet winner Sunrise Mountain’s 87 points.

The Bulldogs travel to face Spring Valley on April 13 and Moapa Valley for the Richard Lewis Invitational on April 15. They travel for two more meets before hosting a quad meet on April 26.
