VVLL kicks off fourth season April 4

The hugely successful Virgin Valley Little League kicks off its 2016 season on April 4-5 with 28 girl and boy teams competing in three age groups, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14. The girl softball teams open play on April 4 at the Old Mill fields. An opening ceremony will be held prior to the games at 5 p.m. with all teams in attendance plus local city, community and league officials. The boys teams will open on April 5 at Pioneer Park fields.

The girls will put 12 softball teams on the field this year, four in each age category. The sponsors and coaches for the 8-10 group: are Mesquite Local News coached by Dyanne Eckdahl, Kokopelli Landscaping coached by Shane Hughes, Virgin Valley Dental coached by Scott Jackson and Falcon Ridge Car Wash coached by Artie Shaner.

The 11-12 age group sponsors and coaches are: ERA Real Estate coached by Steve Cude, Cosmopolitan Dental coached by Teresa Ofori, Valley Pediatric Dental coached by Rory Hurley and Mesa View Hospice coached by Richelle Wakefield.

In the 13-14 older group, the sponsors and coaches are: Eureka Casino coached by Clint Sudweeks, Bowler Realty coached by Steve Hansen, CasaBlanca Casino coached by Brad Swanson and the Elks Lodge coached by Shannon Harris.

The boys will put 15 baseball teams on the field as follows: Sponsors and coaches for the 8-10 Minor League age group are Mesquite Veterans Center coached by Eric Garrett, Kokopelli Landscaping coached by Shannon Shaner and Shawn Hughes, Mesquite Dental coached by John and Jared Noel, Premier Properties coached by Eric Wolfe, Kids for Sports Foundation coached by Nick Montoya and Blue Lee, Fidelity National Title and Farmers Insurance-Mitchell Agency coached by Curt Cox and Jared Cameron

The boys Major League 11-12 division sponsors and coaches are: Mesquite Elks Lodge coached by Kenny Burton, Mesquite Sunrise Rotary coached by Nate Harris, Knights of Columbus coached by Daniel Jensen and Mesa View Hospice coached by Ty Wakefield.

In the final age group boys Junior League 13-14 are: Virgin River Casino coached by Chad Frei, Mesa View Physical Therapy coached by Travis Wakefield, Reliance Connects coached by Travis Anderson and Landtrends coached by Jeff Hughes.

Spring without local little league baseball would seem to be a travesty so come out and support the youth of our community on April 4.
