Dear Editor:

Mesquite has a continuous calendar of events year round.  Casino events to organizations’ events, private parties, etc.; they all require planning, scheduling, and implementation.  This having been said, I would like to give special thanks and recognition to a group of ladies who are continually helping these event planners. They are dedicated to providing the absolute best volunteerism to our community; they are the Mesquite Showgirls.  They help with events as greeters, selling raffle tickets, directing guests to their table/seat and do it with grace, beauty, and a smile.  Always in beautiful and entertaining attire, they are truly an asset to anyone who engages them for their events.

Of key importance is the fact that they do not charge for their services which, in turn, saves many of us countless dollars if we had to hire someone to do what they so eloquently do. In 2015 they officially became a 501c3 non-profit organization.

On Saturday, March 26, the Mesquite Showgirls need our support.  Their first rummage sale will take place at the old boxing gymnasium also known as the old courthouse at 51 E. 1st St. North – it is adjacent to the community college. Donated items will be accepted on Friday, March 25th.  To arrange for pickup or a different drop off date other than Friday please contact Renee at 702-856-9106 anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  I have my donations ready and invite you to start getting your items/furniture/tools ready today and join the Showgirls in making this fundraiser a fabulous success. I thank Jean Watkins and the Showgirls for all they do to help make our community events less stressful, more enjoyable, and easier to manage.
