On Monday, February 22, Mesquite police officers responded to a local residence and initiated a burglary investigation. Earlier that same day, forced entry was made in the residence and multiple firearms, jewelry, coins, and some alcohol were stolen. Mesquite detectives responded and processed the scene. Due to the multiple firearms being stolen, Mesquite detectives put all of their resources into the investigation in an effort to quickly track down any suspects. Later that same day, a local business reported some suspicious activity, which helped detectives progress their investigation by locating one of their suspects. The investigation then led to four other suspects being located.

Through evidence collected, video surveillance, and interviews conducted with the five located suspects, Mesquite detectives were able determine the details and circumstances of the crime. Most of the stolen items of jewelry were recovered at a local pawn shop and four stolen firearms were located hidden in a remote desert area outside of Mesquite.
