Monday night Feb. 1, 64 Mesquite children, ages 5-17, were cast in Missoula Children’s Theatre 2016 production of Peter and Wendy.

Missoula Children’s Theatre began in 1970 and according to their web site “MCT brings the arts to all 50 states, 5 Canadian Provinces and 16 countries. They want to go to reach the small communities that have few creative outlets or resources for their children. They want to provide access for places that have none. MCT envisions helping their country’s children grow into confident, successful citizens using the positive results of their programs.”

Directing this large group of Mesquite’s youth are Samantha Fabiani and Blaire Smith. Together these two ladies, both with BA’s in Theatre, will take 64 children from the auditions that were held Monday night to a full scale musical performance on Saturday, Feb. 6. This is an incredible feat for anyone in just five days but these women have experience. Fabini has been with Missoula for the past year and Smith for the past three. Both women have fallen in love with the educational aspect and enjoy their mission.

Smith and Fabiani met about a year ago and were touring with different partners at the time but in the beginning of 2016 they had the opportunity to tour together and decided they were a good team. They’ve performed in four cities since they began touring at the beginning of this year.

Don’t miss the wonderful performance that is sure to delight audience members of all ages when these talented kids and their accomplished directors take the stage on Saturday Feb. 6 at 3 and 7 p.m. at the Mesquite Community Theatre.
