MESQUITE, NV (Leisure Services Dept.) – Summer is fast approaching and for those responsible young adults looking for certification of becoming a lifeguard, the Department of Athletics & Leisure Services has set up special times and dates with the City of St. George Aquatics Division and they are offering a Lifeguard Training Class. The class will run Monday through Friday, March 21 – March 25, 2016 (Clark County School District, Spring Break).

Classes are scheduled for Monday – Friday from 10:00AM – 4:00PM. All times will be Mountain Standard Time. The classes will be held at the Sand Hollow Aquatics Center, Instructed by Michele Howells. 

This class is American Red Cross approved the lifeguard training class which instructs and prepares participants on the knowledge and physical skills needed to respond to an emergency with in the aquatics area. Class is limited to 20 students. 

To attend the class, you must be able to complete a 300 yards swim using the free style stroke, breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes without using your hands and retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 10 feet of water and swimming 25 yards with the brick. The swimming tests will be held the first day of class, please bring your swimming suits and a towel; every day. The deadline for registration will be March 16, 2016. There will be a recertification class for lifeguards looking to extend their skills for another 2 years. The course will be set up for Friday, March 25, 2016, 10:00AM. Please call Sand Hollow Aquatics to sign up for this Re-Cert.
