The Virgin Valley High School boy and girl basketball teams traveled to Boulder City Tuesday night, Jan. 19 and came away with victories over the host Eagles.

The Lady Dawgs began the evening with a 47-32 win over the Lady Eagles. The Lady Dawgs jumped on the Eagles early, leading after one period 14-10 and increased their lead to 26-14 at the break. Boulder City rallied in the third period cutting the Dawgs lead to 33-28. The Dawgs shut down the Eagles in the last period outscoring the Eagles 14-4 for a 47-32 win.

The Lady Dawgs held their third place position in Sunrise League with the win and a record of 5-2. Spencer Green and Bernice Fiso led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points each followed by Brianna Todd with 10 points.

The Bulldog boy team had a tough time with the Eagles before winning 53-38. The Dawgs led early 21-5 with the Dawgs 1-3-1 defense shutting the Eagles down in the first period. The Eagles found the range in the second period but the Dawgs held on for a 28-20 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs increased their lead in the third period on top 40-31. The last period was all Bulldogs as the Dawgs finished off the Eagles 53-38. Leading the way for the Dawgs were Zach Barnum with 18 points followed by Andrew Memmott and Hogan Fowles with nine points each.

The win keeps the Dawgs in second place in the league with a 6-1 record.
