January 6 1877-       First group of settles arrives in Mesquite Flats they settled the south side of the river.

January 7 1877-       First church service held Bunkerville Branch of Santa Clara Ward ( Lds or Mormon Congregation)

January 8 1877-       Work begins on irrigation canal (South of the River in Bunkerville area)

January 10 1909-     ” Another flood washed our alfalfa away “-Sarah Burgess Hughes

January 11 1913-     coldest weather ever; the river froze over.
