SNOW STOPS MMGA
The earliest snowfall on the local mountains in the past 13yrs scared off some MMGA players as only 14 brave souls teed it up at Falcon Ridge on Tuesday which turned out to be a very nice day. It may have also been a little fatigue for the “young” men coming off their annual club tournament on Sat and Sunday. Andrew Yeh certainly relaxed now that the tournament pressure was over as he only recorded birdies on holes 1, 5, 10, 11, 15 and 16 for a meager 36-36-72 for medalist. “Ya, but I had two out of bounds, give me a break” Yeh commenting on his round. David Miller with a pair of 42’s for 84 won first place low net with 68. Dave, where was that nice round over the weekend? Bubba Petrick also wishes he could have had this round last Sat and Sunday as he found his game with a 38-44-82 and net 71 that tied him for 2nd low net with Ben Bishop (89). Both men bogeyed 13 and Petrick took the second spot with a par on hole six as Bishop “tri-fected the hole. Dan Trower (92) and net 73 got the last place.
Under perfect skies Paul Le Van and Don Mannon tamed the Canyons golf course on Thursday. Le Van, playing well lately, shot 36-40-76 to win medalist honors over runner up Mannon who shot 38-41-79 from the forward tees. Mannon, “if I could have putted have way decently it could have been very low”. Dennis Simmons had one of his better rounds in awhile and recorded an 87 to win low net at a low 64 three shots better than Mannon’s 67. Frank Thomasino (83) placed third low net with his 69. Ben Bishop (85) continues to improve and his net 70 took home fourth place. Jim Guttridge (86) and Greg Sullivan (83) tied for fifth place but Guttridge won out with his par four on the first handicap hole dropping Sullivan to the final pay off position.
