The Virgin Valley High School Lady Dawg soccer team lost to the Cheyenne High School Desert Shields 3-1 Monday night in Las Vegas in the first round of the 1-A South Division playoffs.  The Bulldogs had won 11 straight games before falling to the Sunset Conferences fourth seed.

The Dawgs and the Desert Shields battled to a 1-1 tie in the first half of play. Karla Correa struck goal on an unassisted play. The Warriors finally broke down the Dawgs defense striking for two goals in the second half for a 3-1 win.

“They were too quick for us,” said Bulldog Coach Bob Snell. “We made several uncharacteristic mistakes. It’s very disappointing, but the girls never quit. They played hard right to the end. I’m very proud of this group for all they accomplished this season.”

The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 13-6-5 record and a 11-1-2 conference record.
