Don’t forget to stop by and celebrate Thanksgiving with neighbors, present friends and friends you’ve yet to meet at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner today from noon to 6 p.m. The annual dinner is a free event open to everyone. It’s not just for the needy or unfortunate.
Kick off the month on Dec. 1 with the Eureka’s ‘Hearts of the Holidays’ show. The show has a country theme and will highlight the Treble makers and other community groups. Virgin Valley Elementary School first grade class will be doing a song and dance and the high school and middle school bands are joining forces to help begin the holiday season with a bang. A surprise entertainment group from Vegas will also be performing.
I’d like to take a moment to address an issue that has been brought to my attention several times recently. “I don’t see (fill in the blank) in the calendar.” or “There’s nothing to do in Mesquite.”
What you see in print every Thursday is only a very small portion of what the entire community calendar contains each week. We try to at least get all of the current events for the week in the paper. Sometimes there is so much going on in town that it’s not possible to list the entire calendar along with all of the news and community stories you like to read.
Our goal is to keep you up to date and informed on all we can so the entire calendar, which is nine pages, has always been complete on our website.
If you go to www.mesquitelocalnews.com and click on community calendar you will find a plethora of learning and health activities from art to Yoga. There are community counseling and support services from AA to Weight Watchers. We have activities for everyone from pre-school to senior and everyone in between. Just type your activity into the search box and hit enter, and the world of “What’s Happening in Mesquite” is at your fingertips. There is a lot of activity in this town all the time.
