The Exchange Club is flying an impressive 1000 Flags over the Mesquite Recreation Center field for the tenth year to honor all veterans both past and present. It took approximately 40 volunteers three hours to put up the flags which will stay on display until Nov. 15.

1000 Flags over Mesquite is one of the Exchange Club’s yearly fundraising events which help to sponsor local veteran’s programs.  Donations collected from 1000 Flags over Mesquite specifically provide the postage to send packages to veterans overseas for the Any Soldier Project.

The public is welcome to purchase a flag to honor a special Vet, family member or friend at a cost of $35.  You can take the flag home after the closing ceremony on Nov. 15 or donate it back to the Exchange Club.

Volunteers from the community will be there 24/7 to watch over the flags and they also have a vendor’s booth available to purchase additional items.  A percentage of the proceeds from sold items also benefit the Any Soldier Project.  Visitors are welcome and encouraged to walk the field day or night until the closing ceremony begins on Sunday Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
