It was the first win over the Roadrunners in the history of Bulldog girl soccer. The win propels the Lady Dawgs into first place in 1-A Sunrise Conference play with an 8-1-2 record. TECH fell to 7-2-2 and a tie with Sunrise Mountain for second place with three games remaining.

“I told the girls we control our own destiny with three games remaining,” said Bulldog Coach Bob Snell. “Take it one game at a time, win them all and we are the champs. It’s a great win for our program.”

Bulldog star forward Abbie Barnum took a pass directly in front of the box from Kari Wakefield, slipped by a TECH defender and blew it pass the goalkeeper for the only score of the game. The first 52 minutes of the match was a defensive stalemate from two good defensive teams and the last minutes of the game was even more dramatic for the Bulldogs defense. With nothing to lose, the Roadrunners had all their players on the offensive, surrounding Bulldog goalkeeper Spencer Green with red clad players. Bulldogs Kallie Graves and Dalylah Chavez had huge blocks with less than a minute remaining in the match. Bulldog goalkeeper Green had 8 saves and registered shutout number 11 for the year. Barnum’s goal was number 26 for the year.

“We go to Del Sol tomorrow, Oct. 21; then Moapa Valley on Oct. 26 before ending the season Oct. 28, against Boulder City.” added coach Snell.
