Glow-in-the-dark golf balls will be falling from the sky once again on Saturday, Oct. 24 when the Mesquite Rotary Club holds its 9th Annual “Glow In The Dark” Golf Ball Drop.  This year’s event will take place in the Eureka Resort’s parking lot complete with the club’s 4th Annual Car Show, chili cook-off, and a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students’ art contest.

Ticket holders will have ten chances to win prizes, with the first place prize of $1,000 cash for the first ball to fall in the #1 hole along with prizes for the first ball in the other nine holes.

Numbered balls are placed in a Plexiglas box and raised high above a platform with 10 holes.  When the balls are released the first ball to fall into each of the ten holes is a winner.  Tickets for a chance to win are $20 each or six for $100.

“This is our annual fundraiser,” noted president Keith Buchhalter.  “Funds raised from this event help to support the Virgin Valley Food Bank, the Mesquite Reads Program, and our local youth in numerous ways,” he added.

This will also be the 4th year Rotary has included a car show featuring classic and interesting cars for people to enjoy.

For the great cooks among us, the chili cook-off is the place to enter your grandmother’s prize chili recipe.  The public will be invited to sample the entries and vote on their favorite one with the lucky winner receiving $100 cash.

With the help of students in the BDHS Interact Club, there will be free face painting for the youngsters, music, food and lots of fun.  The fun and activities will begin at 3:00 pm and the ball drop will take place at dark around 6:30 pm.  Ball Drop tickets may be purchased through any Mesquite Rotary member, or by contacting Keith Buchhalter at 702-427-6278 or Linda Gault 307-760-9544.
