Preparing for the future

There are some businesses that us, as residents of the desert, cannot and will not live without. One of those businesses is centered around our need for air conditioning, and Virgin Valley Air Conditioning says that they are here to cater to those needs.

Led by owner Bill LaBronte, who has been a resident of the Virgin Valley since the mid 1980’s, the business seeks customers who will appreciate a different approach to maintaining the air and heating units that exist within nearly every dwelling.

“We care about our long-term commitment to our customer. Truthfully, we’re usually the bad guys (in the A/C business) depending on what’s wrong with the unit. But we’ll fix it better for less,” LaBronte said.

LaBronte began his newest venture nearly five years ago, after being retired since 2000 from a lifelong contractor. After schooling and working in Phoenix for several years, he moved back to his home in Scenic, Arizona. Besides the issues he has had with the State of Nevada on getting his licensing, becoming an honest business in Mesquite was rather easy. He had worked with the City before as one of the workers who built the current Rec Center on West Old Mill Road.

But the other side of the story for VVAC is LaBronte’s working partner, Juan “Junior” Hernandez, who has been his next door neighbor for many years, growing up in the area since he was a small child. He began working with LaBronte in May after finishing school and VVAC was created. In the end, LaBronte says the business he is building will eventually become Hernandez’s.

“I like it,” he said, at only 21 years of age. “I really enjoy doing it.”

How long it will be before LaBronte passes on the reins to his counterpart is uncertain, but based on their history in the area, it is sure that Virgin Valley Air Conditioning will be around for many years to come.
