SNOW BALLS ARE ROLLING IN

The MMGA snow ballers are starting to return.  Welcome back Delbert Moore, Bob Chambers, Tim Miller and Terry Spriggs.  Andrew Yeh, despite cart path only travel restrictions at Falcon Ridge managed a smooth one under par 71 to start off the new fall season as medalist.  Five shots back were “Bubba” Petrick with 76 and Terry Spriggs and Paul LeVan were one shot back of that with 77.  Petrick’s nice round was rewarded first place low net at 66.  LeVan was second with a net 68.  Jin Anderson threw in an unusual round of 92 and a net 70 to edge out fellow gold tee player Joel Reilly (90) and net 71.  Reilly was tied with Terry Gardner (86), and Bill Irace (84).  Reilly won 4th with a bogey five on the 13th hole as Gardner shot double bogey, bogey par to take the 5th spot and knock Irace out of the money when Irace went double bogey, bogey and double bogey.  Tom Durenberger recorded the putt of the day.  With the cup in the back right corner on hole four he putted from some 30 feet up the ridge and then down the slope with a 41 inch left to right break center cup for a “sweet” birdie three.

LeVAN’S TWO 39’S COMES UP TWO STROKES SHORT

Paul LeVan has been playing some very good golf as of late.  Thurs at the CasaBlanca he shot a pair of 39’s for 78 but fell short of upsetting Andrew Yeh by just two shots.  LeVan had two birdies on the back nine and Yeh only one all day but Yeh’s pair of 38’s beats a pair of 39’s all day.  LeVan was rewarded with first place low net with his 70.  Manny Lira (94) did tie LeVan’s net 70 but his bogey on the first handicap hole fell one short of  LeVan’s par four.  Third low net of 72 was by Bubba Petrick who shot a gross 81.  Fourth place went to Delbert Moore (90) and the last spot awarded to Tim Miller (84) and net 75.  Putt of the day was turned in by Bubba Petrick on the par five 15th as he sunk a 42 foot uphill putt for his birdie four.

The next scheduled play is Tuesday, October 13th at 8:00 at Falcon Ridge and Thursday Oct 15th at the Canyons at 8:00.   Always check your sig up sheets for any corrected times or places.  Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 346-6363.  Also check out our website at www.mesquitemensgolf.com.
