It will be a Mash, A Monster Mash, when the Mesquite Police Department opens their annual Trunk or Treat Halloween Celebration on Saturday, October 31st at 5:30 pm on the first level of the Casablanca Parking Garage.

Local businesses and organizations are joining the MPD in making this year’s Halloween celebration safe for the littlest members of our community. Decorating trunks in the Monster Mash theme businesses compete for “Trunk Awards” and pass out treats to the ghouls, goblins, superheroes, princesses and other costumed characters that visit Mesquite on Halloween.

“We invite all members of our community to join the fun and make this a night to remember,” said Police Lieutenant MaQuade Chesley.  There are several ways to participate; the police department is accepting donations of store bought individually wrapped candy to hand out at the event and local businesses and organizations are invited to host a trunk (space permitting.) Residents can also contact a local non-profit agency and volunteer to assist them with the event.

The move to the Casablanca Parking Garage will double the number of business participants and provide plenty of public parking.  Businesses and organizations can register for the event (first come, first served) through Kim Otero at 702-346-5262, ext. 6155. Candy donations can be dropped off at the Police Department at 695 Mayan Circle 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
