Join the children and adults around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking or biking. Virgin Valley Elementary School in partnership with the City of Mesquite Athletics and Leisure Services Department will hold their annual Walk or Bike to School day on Wednesday Oct. 7.

Looking for a healthy way to start the day and spend quality time with your child?  Try walking or bicycling with your child to school. It’s a great way to help children learn and practice safe walking and bicycling skills, promote health, identify safer walking routes, and improve air quality. There’s not a better way to start your day.

There will be a staging area in the West end of the Mesquite Recreation Center parking lot for all children that wish to walk or bike to school that day. Parents if you wish to participate or drop your children off at the West Parking lot of the Mesquite Recreation Center and they can ride their bikes or walk to school that day from that location. School officials will be on hand to help organize the event and make sure kids get to school.

If you do have to drive that day, consider parking several blocks away and walk the remainder of the way to the school. To find more about Walk or Bike to School events in the USA go to www.walktoschool.org.
