“Come home for homecoming week,” exhorted Virgin Valley High School Vice-Principal Jaydel Wilson in a recent interview regarding Bulldog Homecoming Week. “Alumni will be returning to renew old acquaintances and see family. We have some activities for all Mesquite citizens old and young alike.”

Homecoming week kicks off Monday, Oct.19 with students wearing different types of dress daily during school hours and a different sporting event each day against 1-A Sunrise League opponents. The Monday, Oct.19 volleyball game is huge as the winner will most likely end the season on top of the 1-A League standings. Tuesday, Oct.20 finds the 1-A Sunrise League first place Virgin Valley soccer team against second place TECH at the Mesquite Sports and Events Center.

The Bulldog soccer guys are up next hosting Desert Pines at the event center. “Thursday Oct. 22 is our big day,” added Vice-Principal Wilson. “The homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. on Mesquite Boulevard and ends at the high school. A Community Pep Assembly will be held at the gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.

“We will be honoring seniors from all the athletic and extracurricular programs plus announcing the Homecoming King and Queen for Friday night’s game against Boulder City. I invite all of Mesquite to come up to the gym for food, good times and to renew their youth.”

A tailgate party will be held in the quad area prior to Friday night’s game. Graduating seniors will hold a reception following the game in the student center. Numerous graduated classes will hold reunions during the weekend. Finally, the students will enjoy the Footloose Dance in the Old Historical Gym. Footloose is the theme chosen by the student body for their homecoming week activities.
