The Desert Pines High School football team’s undefeated record was shattered Wednesday afternoon when Donnie Nelson, NIAA Assistant Director announced the Jaguars forfeited league wins against Moapa Valley and Chaparral high schools for using an ineligible transfer from another school.

NIAA Executive Director Bart Thompson notified administrations of Desert Pines, Moapa Valley and Chaparral of the association’s decision. Desert Pines record falls to 3-2 while the Pirates and Cowboys league record goes to 4-0 with the changes.

Desert Pines 3-2 record eliminates the Jaguars from winning the 1-A Sunrise League title but assures them of a third place finish and a spot in the 1-A Southern Division playoffs. Desert Pines is appealing the association’s decision.

Moapa and Chaparral finish league play next week at Moapa with the winner crowned as league champion.
