The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog football team travels to Chaparral High School Friday night, Oct. 16 to face the Cowboys in an important Sunrise League matchup. The Cowboys are tied with Moapa Valley for second place in league play with 3-1 records trailing undefeated Desert Pines.

The Cowboys blasted Boulder City last Friday night 65-7 led by Quarterback Andrew Solis who threw for 250 yards and five touchdowns. Leading the Cowboys are the duo of Richard Nelson and Jacob Ford who combined for 150 yards against the Eagles.

The Cowboys defeated common opponents Sunrise Mountain 35-14 and Del Sol 49-0 while the Dawgs lost to Sunrise Mountain 22-21 and beat Del Sol 48-0. The Dawgs will counter with Kai Mitchell and Cody Jones who combined for 96 yards in the Dawgs loss to Moapa Valley.

Bulldog quarterback Hogan Fowles needs to complete a higher percentage of his passes to keep the Dawgs in the game. The Bulldog defense played well against the Pirates despite the final score of the game. They need to keep the intensity level high to stop the Cowboys passing attack. A win for the Cowboys sets up a showdown for second place in league with the Pirates two weeks from now.
