The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ely District has extended until Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, the public comment period on the Murphy’s Gap APD Well No. 14-23 Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA). The BLM extended the 15-day public comment period to provide the public an additional 15 days to review and provide comments on the EA, which is available online at http://1.usa.gov/1Klxaku.

The site-specific EA analyzes potential impacts that could result from a Makoil, Inc., proposal to drill an exploration oil well on a valid existing lease located within the Basin and Range National Monument in Coal Valley, about 17 miles northwest of Hiko in Lincoln County, Nev. Hydraulic fracturing is not proposed.

Interested individuals should address all written comments to the BLM Caliente Field Office, PO Box 237, Caliente, NV 89008, Attn: Murphy’s Gap Well 14-23 or fax them to the field office at (775) 726-8111. Comments may also be submitted electronically with the subject, “ATTN: Murphy’s Gap Well 14-23” to blm_nv_eydo_2015makoil@blm.gov.
