On Monday, Sep. 21, the Chamber of Commerce Board approved a slate of new directors for 2016 presented by the Nominating Committee. The Committee, headed by Noel Smith, incoming Chairperson, and composed of Merri Erickson, Dr. Leigh Rossinger, Michelle Jensen, Blake Syndegaard and Karen Fielding, worked diligently over the last two months interviewing candidates and making their final recommendations. The Committee is in total agreement and supportive of the slate.

The recommendations are (in alphabetical order):

Dave Ballweg: Owner of LoadTec, a major employer in Mesquite. Dave is also active in a variety of charitable and civic causes, and has experience with a number of Chambers over his career.

Dave Bennett-AVP, Business Development for Fidelity National Title. Dave is a life-long resident of Mesquite, former Councilman, and currently a member of the MRB Board of Directors.

Roberta Franco-Director, Salvation Army Service Center. Roberta is currently a member of several boards in Mesquite, bringing a wealth of experience with non-profit organizations and grant writing.

Jayne Kendrick- President, JL Kendrick Company, Inc. Jayne has been active in the Chamber for years, and has significant business owner experience and a strong financial background.

Kathy Lee- Owner, “View on Mesquite” magazine. Kathy is a long-term resident of Mesquite, and through her business, has established great working relationships with businesses in the Mesquite and Southern Utah region. Kathy served previously as President of the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce.

Travis McDowell-General Manager of the Conestoga Golf Club. For the past 13 years, Travis has run golf, food and beverage operations for Troon, the largest golf course management company in the world.

Chamber members in good standing are eligible to self-nominate. The Criteria for Board Service and an application are available via the Chamber website.

The timeline for the election is as follows:

Oct. 1-deadline for self-nominations (a Chamber rep will contact you for a brief interview)

Oct. 13-Ballots will be mailed to all members in good standing

Oct. 23-Ballots due to Chamber office

Oct. 27-Nominating Committee will tabulate

Nov. 4-Nominating Committee will meet and certify results

Nov. 16-Election results to be approved by Board of Directors

Dec. 5-Newly elected Board members will be announced at the Chamber Holiday Party.
