Call for Entries: Students Invited to Participate in Water and Energy Conservation Contest for a Chance to Win Cash Prizes.

Yes! Air Conditioning and Plumbing, Las Vegas’ trusted heating, air conditioning and plumbing company for over 40 years, has partnered with the Clark County School District (CCSD) for the third consecutive year to host the “Think Green & Clean” Contest.

Eligible participants, who must be legal United States citizens and currently enrolled in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade in the CCSD, are invited to submit ideas on how to conserve water, energy or both in their local Las Vegas Valley community. Entries are due between 12 a.m. PT on Sept. 21, 2015, and 5 p.m. PT on Oct. 16, 2015. Winning entries will be awarded cash prizes.

CCSD includes 357 schools and over 315,000 students across the Las Vegas Valley. Yes! Air Conditioning and Plumbing and the School District are encouraging these K through 12th grade students to enter their best ideas on how to conserve this time of year, to reduce the load on the energy grid, and to conserve water in honor of Nevada’s worsening drought.

Students are invited to relay the type of impact their idea could have on the community and economy. The contest is open to all “green and clean” ideas. Winners will be awarded cash prizes based on their grade level.

The first place high school and middle school winners will be awarded $200 cash prizes and the second place winners will be awarded $100 cash prizes, for a total of four winners. The kindergarten through grade five winners will be awarded a $150 first place cash prize and $100 second place cash prize, for a total of two winners. In addition, Yes! Air Conditioning and Plumbing will donate $500 to the school with the most student entries.

“Our team at Yes! values the opportunity to get involved in our community, and we’re excited to partner again with the Clark County School District for the Think Green & Clean contest,” said Lance Fernandez, general manager of Yes! Air Conditioning and Plumbing. “Water conservation, as well as energy conservation, is of huge importance right now for the Las Vegas community. Through this Think Green & Clean contest, we hope to encourage even more students to think about implementing conservation practices into everyday life, and encouraging them to consider the impact they can make on the environment for our community as a whole.”

To enter, students must submit a conservation idea in the form of a written essay, drawing or model. All entries must include a thorough explanation, the potential impact of the idea on the economy and/or community, and how the idea can be implemented throughout their community. Projects must be submitted to the participant’s teacher, by email to YesThinkClean@boltpr.com, or via mail at 501 Elm St., Suite 450, Dallas, TX 75202, no later than 5 p.m. PT on Oct. 16, 2015.
