August 8, 1883: Lucius Peck was appointed as the first postmaster. He was also a school teacher and store keeper. The first school was in his living room of his home.

August 1970: There are 7 dairies employing 35 families with a total of 1900 cows. Also 47 farmers and ranchers with 3,700 head of beef cattle. Primary crops of the time were alfalfa, barley sorghum grain, sorghum silage, melons and improved pasture. (From Resource Report of the Virgin Valley compiled and prepared by Ferren W. Bunker)
