MLN-Obit3aug13-15Gerald “Jerry” Richard Baldwin, retired United States Navy Veteran of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones, on June 12, 2015 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 76.

Gerald was born on September 19, 1938 in Afton, Wyoming to the late Oliver F. Baldwin and Kathaleen M. Orme; also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Baldwin and grandson, Charles Slone.

He served in the United States Navy for 20 years as a Gunners Mate. He was an OTR truck driver for over 20 years earning an award for 1 million safe miles driven.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sonia Cherco of Illinois; brother, Frank Baldwin of Washington; sister Lois Ann Shedden and her husband Albert Shedden of Wyoming;  daughters, Lakrissha Spence and her husband Larry Spence of Kansas, Lee Black of Washington and Bambi Baldwin of Washington; niece, Carmen Dean and her husband Mike Dean of California; granddaughter Danielle Meissner and her husband Matthew Meissner of Nevada; grandsons, Donald Slone of Nebraska and Austin Black of Washington; great-granddaughters, Savannah Meissner, Caroline Meissner and Charlotte Meissner of Nevada, many more family and friends.

His love of life and friendly smile will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A “Celebration of Life” luncheon will take place on August 15, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. at the Mesquite Senior Center in Mesquite.
