Virgin Valley Artists Association welcomes students, ages 8 to 16, to dive into the fun of art in its “Get Smart with Art” classes that kick off  in September.  Noted artist Tammy Nielson-Symons directs this free art program that introduces kids to basic art skills in drawing, painting, collage, digital photography, and polymer clay art.  Classes are organized into two age levels, 8 -11, and 12-16.  The 8 to 11 year old group starts on Sept. 5, and 12 to 16 year olds start their series on Sept. 19.   Classes meet 10a-12noon on alternating Saturdays, Sept. through May.

Advance enrollment for these free art lessons can be completed at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery, 15 West Mesquite Blvd, Mesquite Nevada.  Parents must authorize student enrollment, with the class offered for local residents only.   For more information and enrollment, please visit the Gallery Mon. through Sat., 10a-4pm.  Gallery phone is 702-346-1338.

Classes will be taught by local instructors who lead projects in their specialized art mediums.   All are VVAA members whose fine artwork can be seen at the Gallery.   All are award-winning artists who are experienced instructors.  Creative projects such as fantasy art, horse figure drawing and polymer clay art are scheduled during the course.

The VVAA Get Smart with Art program has been recognized for its educational value, and is  partially funded by grants from the Nevada Arts Council and NEA Art Works.  All grant funds are matched dollar for dollar by VVAA and generous local donors.
