Knights raise over $1000 for Mesquite Reads

“The Mesquite Council of The Knights of Columbus raised $1,106.23 at their firework stand and donated the funds to Mesquite Reads.  Mesquite Reads is a program designed to help elementary age children improve their reading skills.  Research has shown that children who meet with success in reading in the early elementary grades have greater success in high school and college.  The money is going towards next year’s program that is expected to double in size.  MLN-Knightsjul23-15

The Knights were still able to raise the money despite being closed for 3 days because of the damage caused by the windstorm.

Deputy Grand Knight Joel Sodano and Past Grand Knight Joe Flores are pictured presenting a check to Kathy Davis, Principal of Virgin Valley Elementary School and Gerri Chasko, Coordinator of The Eureka Community Initiative.

The Knights would like to thank all the patrons who supported their efforts.  Without their support, these results would not be possible.”
