Obituary: Margaret “Peggy” Bentz

MLN-Obit2jun25-15Margaret Jane Bentz (78), passed away June 20, 2015, in a local Viera, FL hospital. “Peggy”, as she liked to be called, was born July 9, 1936, in Nashville, TN. She spent most of her life in Merced, CA, Panama City, FL and Mesquite, NV.

Peggy began employment with the USAF in Civil Service in 1957 as a financial manager and ended her career in 1993 while working for the Air Force Civil Engineering Support Agency at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL. She mentored financial managers around the world, served on the Tyndall Federal Credit Union Board in Panama City, FL as a Director and Vice President for 15 years, and was known for her financial expertise. She was a supporter of Credit Unions as the best opportunity for banking.

Peggy is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Harry “John” Kaier of Viera, FL; two sisters, Joanne Wooten of Panama City, FL and Shirley Haley of Nine Mile Falls, WA; two grandchildren, Derrek Kaier of Broomfield, CO and Deanna Kaier of Aurora, CO; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kaleb and Kylee Kaier. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frankie Sullivan; and one sister, MaryNell Christensen.

She was a positive, caring and kind individual who was loved by many. She reached out to support others and truly loved engaging and talking with everyone. She received many accolades during her career as she was known as a strong, intelligent and innovative woman. She was a mother to many and a friend to all. She will be missed dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Life with family and friends on July 11 at the home of Cindy and Harry Kaier in Viera, FL where she resided for the past year. Cards and memories are welcomed by the family and may be sent to Cindy Kaier, 4929 Duson Way, Rockledge, FL 32955.

    Peggy was a wonderful and very nice lady. I worked at Langley AFB, VA Civil Engineering Financial Management and could always depend on her knowledge and expertise. Really sorry to here of her passing. Good bye to a good friend..
