One of Mesquite’s most memorable businesses had a belated anniversary present from the state last week. Celebrating their fourth year of business in March, Guns & Guitars, at 1085 W. Pioneer Boulevard Suite 170, received some news that they had been waiting for since February.
Last Friday, June 12, owners Michael and Jan Sullivan hosted a ‘Blue Card Shredding Party’ at noon, inviting their customers and anyone with the ‘dreaded’ blue card from Nevada to come in and shred them.
The blue cards, which were part of the registration process for concealable firearms in Clark County, were done away with when Governor Brian Sandoval signed a new law into effect on Tuesday, June 2.
As per the Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s press release, they will no longer cite or arrest anyone based on the following ordinances or codes:
- 04.110 Registration of pistols within 72 hours
- 04.200 Registration of firearms capable of being concealed
- 04.210 Unlawful transfer of firearms capable of being concealed
“This should save us at least 20 minutes, if not more,” said Michael. “Overall it was a really big pain in the behind to do.”
For those who were unable to attend the party, Guns & Guitars will have their shredder on site for anyone who wants to shred them at their store. They are currently operating under their summer hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
