Grad Night 2015 Thank You

Grad Night marks the beginning of the 100 deadliest days of summer for teens.  As part of the Mesquite Police Department’s commitment to the safety of our youth, MPD has hosted Grad Night for eleven consecutive years.  The purpose of Grad Night is to provide a safe place for students to celebrate their graduation from high school.

The graduating students were “locked in” the Mesquite City Recreation Center from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.  The graduates enjoyed great food, drinks, and desserts, which were donated by local businesses.  The graduates also enjoyed various activities which included soccer, basketball, swimming, pedal car races, movies, bounce house, airbrush tattoos,  green screen photography and had their portraits drawn by a talented local artist.  The seniors had also created a photo slide show of many events in their lives, which was shared at the event.

As always, Grad Night ended with the highly anticipated raffle prize drawing.  Local businesses and private citizens generously donated enough to allow all graduates to win a prize.  Prizes included; tablets, laptops, televisions, cameras, R.C. helicopters, selfie sticks, Go Pros, Headphones, smart watches, Bluetooth stereos, gift cards, and many other items.  Each senior also received a tee shirt with a custom design made specifically for this event. The tee shirt design was created by the seniors themselves.

MPD appreciates the support of local businesses and private individuals who generously donated to ensure the event was a success.  Chief Tanner stated “Our goal was met; our graduating youth were provided a safe place to celebrate their accomplishments. Without the help of generous citizens and local businesses this event could not take place.”  MPD would like to sincerely thank the many generous businesses and individuals who gave funding and gifts to make this event possible.
