The Desert Dames enjoyed a couple of events in May.  This was the third year for the annual picnic at Veterans Memorial Park.  On a beautiful spring evening, members enjoyed BBQ hamburgers, chips, bottled water and desserts provided by the Desert Dames Board Members.  Prior to dinner, Dan Kizerian entertained the group with a variety of fun and familiar tunes.   Following dinner a raffle was held and lucky winners received handmade prizes donated by Chuck Caldwell.

The monthly luncheon was held on May 27 at the Redd Room at the Oasis Club House. After lunch, Joyce Stafford introduced Yoli Bell, founder and president of the Mesquite Cancer HELP Society (MCHS) as the guest speaker.  After being diagnosed with cancer approximately 15 years ago, she realized there were no local organizations available to help area residents undergoing cancer treatment. The MCHS assists with financial, educational and emotional assistance. Financial assistance provides help with prescriptions, various medical bills, physical therapy, counseling and other needs as they arise in regards to their cancer.
