CSN Mesquite is excited to announce we will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician training course for Fall 2015. This program will cover basic emergency medical training in trauma and medical patient assessment, airway management, fracture and wound care, basic pharmacology and semiautomatic external defibrillation. This program satisfies local fire department testing prerequisite.

EMTs and AEMTs are eligible to work in the pre-hospital and clinical setting. In the pre-hospital environment both are typically partnered with a Paramedic and work 8, 12, and 24-hour shifts. Those employed in clinical settings typically work three 12-hour shifts per week in the emergency department. Both are eligible for employment with private ambulance services, fire departments, and hospitals.

Students must enroll in EMS 108 lecture, EMS 108 lab and EMS 150 Clinical. These courses total 9 credit hours and are completed in one semester. EMS 108 Lecture is scheduled to meet Fridays and Saturdays 8:00am-11:20am. EMS 108 Lab is scheduled to meet Saturdays 12:00pm-3:20pm. EMS 150 EMT Clinical Practicum scheduled times will be arranged with the instructor.

Students may enroll at age 17 but must be 18 to sit for the national registry exam.
