Many calls that the Police Department receives are not always included in the blotter, as they are under investigation or a synopsis is not received. To show the amount of work our PD does do, we are including a weekly roster of stats.

Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for May 17-23, 2015.
May 17:
Intoxicated Person: Police arrested an adult female whom was walking on Pulsipher Ln while intoxicated. The female was booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
May 18:
Theft from Vehicle: Police responded to a theft from vehicle on Sidewinder Dr. A report was taken and detectives are conducting further investigation.
Trespassing IP: Police responded to a trespass violator at a W Mesquite Blvd casino. One adult male was issued a citation for trespassing and released with a court date.
Fighting IP: An Officer responded to a disorderly call at an E Pioneer Blvd Hotel room. Information was gathered concerning the incident and a report was taken as a matter of record.
Civil Matter: An Officer responded to a S Arrowhead Ln residence and answered question concerning a civil issue.
Vandalism: Police responded to a report of vandalism on N Sandhill Blvd. A report was taken for the crime and officers are attempting to locate the suspect.
Civil Dispute: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a Domestic call in progress on Moss Dr. Officers met and spoke with a husband and wife and found the situation to be a verbal dispute.
Fraud: An officer responded to the detention center lobby on Hillside Dr in reference to a complaint of fraud. An investigation was started.
Traffic accident W/O injury: Police responded to a traffic accident at Turtleback Rd & W Pioneer Blvd. Two adult females were transported to Mesa View Hospital with minor injuries.
Wanted Person: Mesquite Officers located and arrested for an active Mesquite Municipal Court warrant on Mesquite Springs Dr.
Minor Gambling: Officers responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino reference a minor gambling. Officer cited and released the minor for minor gambling.

May 19:
Found Property: An Officer responded to retrieve found property near the corner of Falcon Ridge Pkwy and Flat Top Mesa Drive. The property was placed into storage for safe keeping.
Traffic accident W/O injury: An Officer responded to a single vehicle accident on Falcon Ridge Parkway at Bertha Howe Av. The driver was not injured and an accident report was completed.
Wanted Person: Officers responded to a verbal dispute between a male and female on Muscat Dr. The female was taken into custody for three warrants and resisting arrest.
May 20:
Threatening: Officers responded to a Pinnacle Ct residence reference a suspicious circumstance. Information was gathered and further investigations will be conducted.
Trespassing IP: Officers were requested to a W Mesquite Blvd casino reference a trespass violator. Officers cited and released a male for trespass.
Traffic accident W/O injury: Report was taken for a non-injury two vehicle accident on W Mesquite Blvd. The driver who caused the accident was cited.
Traffic accident W/O injury: An officer was dispatched to an E Pioneer Blvd casino’s parking lot, in reference to a minor traffic accident without injuries.
Traffic Stop: Detectives with the Mesquite Police Department conducted a traffic stop on N Sandhill Blvd on a vehicle and located open containers of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. Two subjects were arrested for multiple charges.
Phone Harassment: Officers responded to a Riverside Rd residence after multiple non-emergency 911 calls. One adult male was arrested and booked into jail for misuse 911 non-emergency.
Trespassing: Officer responded to a trespass in progress on E Pioneer Blvd. One adult male was cited for trespassing.
May 21:
Lost Property: Officer took a report of lost/ or stolen mail. The victim requested the event be a matter of record. The Officer provided an event number to the victim as requested.
Civil Dispute: Several students have been involved in verbal bullying at school. School investigation has been initiated.
Traffic Accident w/ Damage: An officer was dispatched to a W Mesquite Blvd casino parking lot, in reference to a minor traffic accident without injuries.
Controlled Substance Problem: Officers responded to a W Mesquite Blvd casino parking lot on a report of an adult male using drugs in his vehicle. One adult male was arrested based on the investigation.
Trespassing: Police responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino for a report of a trespass violator, and an adult male was arrested for trespassing.
May 22:
Welfare Check: A truant student was escorted from her Verllonia St residence to the school.
Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer was dispatched to I-15, south of Mesquite, in reference to a suspicious person. The reporting person stated a naked man was seen lying in the desert, off the side of the roadway. This subject was later located and taken into custody for a misdemeanor warrant.
Domestic Violence IP: An Officer was dispatched to a welfare check pm W Pioneer Blvd. Officer determined domestic violence occurred. Investigation ongoing.
Theft: Officer took report of stolen electronics on W Mesquite Blvd.
Graffiti: An officer was dispatched to a local address, in reference to graffiti.
Minor Gambling: Officer responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino on an underage gambler. One juvenile male was cited and released to his mother.
Identification Check: Police responded to an E Pioneer Blvd casino reference an identification check on a gambling patron. The adult female was under the age of 21, and was issued a citation for minor gambling.

May 23:
Domestic Violence IP: Officers were dispatched to a Kitty Hawk Dr residence, reference a domestic disturbance. The investigation was completed with one subject arrested and charged with domestic battery, and obstruction of a police officer.
I think it’s a great idea to show how the PD resources are being used. To be able to understand this properly, shouldn’t MLN also tell us the number of police officers on staff and the budget? I understand the PD budget is just over $6.2 million per year. Using that number, each time the PD does an ID check at a casino or checks on a suspicious person (11 times), it costs us an average of just under $700. Also, not knowing how many police officers are on staff, how can I use this information? If Mesquite has 30 officers (I have no idea the true number), than these statistics would indicate that each officer, on average, responds to less than one call daily.
