TUESDAY: DENHALTER – WARD LAND BIG BIRDS
Tuesday at Falcon Ridge Ken Ward and Gary Denhalter landed bigger birds than Falcons. Denhalter, from 122yds out on the par four third hole, hit his eight iron onto the green and it rolled some 10 feet into the cup for the first of two eagles. For this shot he was awarded the shot of the day. Ward on the par five 7th hole hit his 7 fairway metal to within five feet of the hole and putted that in for the second eagle of the day. Both players were in the same foursome.

Ward used that eagle to shoot two over par on the front side. Then they started the back nine with birdies on 10 and 11. His tee shot on hole 13 was on the lowest level some 100yds from the hole. Unfortunately he plunked it in the water but then hit his third shot to 7 feet and sunk the putt for a bogey five. He went on to shoot another 37 on the back to win medalist honors with 74. Nice round Ken! Andrew Yeh had the best nine holes on the front with a one over par 36 aided by a birdie on four. He also birdied the 10th and 12th holes on the back to finish two shots back of Ward with 76. Two players shot 79’s, Bill Irace and Dave Jordan. Irace was rewarded with first place low net with 67. Yeh was second with a net 68 and Tom Durenberger(81) got the third spot with a net 69. Don Mannon (84) beat Jordon for 4th with a bogey on 13 as Jordan recorded a double bogey six.
THURSDAY: MMGA PLAY WASN’T PRETTY
Only 16 members teed it up at the CasaBlanca on Thursday as more and more “snowballs” headed out of town. Their play was pretty brutal. Only five players managed to record nine hole rounds under 40.

Andrew Yeh(80) and Hal Rundle (91) led the barrage with one over par 37’s. Dave Jodan the medalist at 78 shot 38 as did Ken Ward (82) and Dick Swayne (80) recorded a 39. The forward tee players dominated the podium. Dan Trower with a fine round of 85 and net 64 took first place. Glade Flanigan (95) won third and Dick Swayne (80) was awarded 4th for the front tees. Russ Clark (88) with a nice round took second with a net 67 and Pat Huetter (87) shooting a par and double bogey grabbed the fifth spot with net 73 from Yeh, par and triple bogey and Ward was out with a double bogey on the first handicap hole.

The next scheduled play is Tuesday, 19 at Falcon Ridge at 7:00 and Thursday May 21st at the Canyons at 7:00 for the red tees tournament.
