TUESDAY: YEH’S FANTASTIC ROUND OVERSHADOWS PETRICK

Bubba Petrick recorded his best 18 holes of golf since over coming heart and hip surgeries.  Bubba birdied holes 4, 8 and nine for a solid one under par 34 on the front.  He birdied holes 15 and 16 on the back for a 41 and total 75.  Were it not for three straight double bogeys on 11,12 and 13 he may have matched Andrew Yeh’s round.  But there was no doubt that the day was all about Andrew Yeh.  He eagled the par five first hole and birdied 3,4 and nine for his “spectacular” front nine of five under par 30.  His first five holes were all three’s on his card.  Then he started the back nine with birdies on 10 and 12 to go two under par through 14 and his only blemish was a double bogey on 18.  This may have been his best round since joining the MMGA. Congratulations Andrew!  Petrick’s 75 was a net 62 for first place low net four shots better then runner up Dan Trower’s (86) and net 66.  Clark Mitchell (85) and net 71 got the better of Pat Smitty (86) and net 71 when Mitchell parred the first handicap hole.  The four way tie for fifth between Paul LeVan (81), Dave Jordan (80), Joel Reilly (92) and Jim Anderson (93) was won by LeVan with a par on 13 and Jordan settled for the 6th spot with a bogey.

THURSDAY: BATTLE OF THE RED TEES

The MMGA teed it up for the last monthly tournament until next fall.  During the summer months they will play a three month long  “net”  tournament similar to the PGA Fed Ex year long trny.  But today’s last tournament was to see who is better playing from the ladies tees: the normal middle tee players or the forward tee players.  At first everyone laughed at playing the red tees but as everyone talked about afterwards, you really had to think of what club to hit and positioning.  And for these seniors that is asking a lot.  It was a match play format for bragging rights.  At the end of the day the middle tee seniors had the best of the forward seniors 11 to 9.
