Taylor Bryant wins hurdles and pole vault
The Virgin Valley High School track team had three athletes qualify last Saturday for the Nevada 1-A State track meet which will be held Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16 at Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas. Taylor Bryant won the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 16:41 seconds and a leap of 9.06 feet in the pole vault. His sister, Dylan Bryant, placed third to qualify with a leap of 8.06.

On the men’s side Kai Mitchell placed third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42:11 punching his ticket to state. Mitchell’s time is fifth in the state of all qualifiers from north and south divisions. Bryant’s hurdle time gives her the third top qualifying at state. Bryant will have to have her top performance to win gold this Saturday. Bryant will also have to equal or better her school record 10.01 leap to win at state. Her sister, Dylan, who is only a sophomore, looks ready to continue the Bryant dynasty in women’s pole vaulting at the Dawg Pound.
