Monday’s tournament at The Palms Golf Course hosted by Moapa Valley turned out to be another good match for the Virgin Valley High School Boys Golf team, who tied for second place with Moapa Valley with a score of 444.

“I am happy with the results of today’s match. We had some holes get away from us but I felt we kept our composure and held ourselves together and played as a team,” said Coach Josh Tyrell. “If these boys continue to work on their swings and really focus on developing their short game during the off season, we will be a force to be reckoned with next year because we will be literally sprinting with motivation and excitement from our first matches all the way to the last matches.”

Overall, each player did well. Hogan Fowles shot an 86, Keani Munford 82, Chris Cannon 89, Jacoby Flores 92 and Brayden Johnson 95. Nathan Hulet shot a 61 on the front nine, just missing the cut for the back nine holes of 55.

The team will travel to Needles, Calif. Thursday for their final match before Regionals.
