A There was a large group of senior athletes that competed Saturday afternoon in basketball skills at the Mesquite Recreation Center courts. Participants competed in free-throw shooting, timed shooting event and three-points shot skills. Seniors from fifty years old and five year increments and up showed age is not a factor when determining athleticism. Leading competitor of the day was James Pauley who competed in the 55-59 age bracket and scored the highest in all events when the day ended. Pauley hit 25 of 25 free throws, scored 52 points in the timed shooting and hit 19 three-point shots to win three gold medals. It was a good day for senior hot shots.
