Adding to this week’s festivities will be Mesquite Gaming’s 7th Annual Smokin’ in Mesquite competition at the CasaBlanca Resort, 950 W Mesquite Boulevard on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. with awards presented on Sunday at 6 p.m. It is estimated that there will be up to 50 of the nation’s top barbecue teams competing for a portion of the $40,000 prize purse.
There will be four meat types considered – ribs, brisket, chicken and pork and judging will be conducted by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, the competition’s governing body.
Spectators will be able to sample the cooking throughout the two-day event as well as DJ Johnny Utah and a beer garden.
