The Warriors took a quick lead in the top of the first inning putting four runs on the scoreboard. The Dawgs cut the Warriors’ lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second before the Warriors lit up the scoreboard in the third with seven runs, four on Dunston’s grand slam over the left field fence. The Dawgs again cut the lead in the bottom of the third getting three runs on hits by Jessica Barnum and Janella Fiso. The Warriors blew the game wide open in the top of the fourth with 8 runs and a 19-4 advantage. The Dawgs continued to battle despite the score, scoring three runs on a Janella Fiso double after singles by Emma and Jessica Barnum. The Bulldogs’ offense played well with 9 hits for the game. Fiso and the Barnums had two hits each to lead the Dawgs. The Warriors finished with three runs in the fifth to win 22-7. “We need to keep working on fundamentals,” said Bulldog coach Travis Griffith. “The Kids know we struggled early last year before putting things together. Despite the losses the girls have maintained a positive attitude.” The Lady Bulldogs travel to Cheyenne on Friday and SECTA on Tuesday before hosting Chaparral and Moapa Valley next week Wednesday 3/18 and 3/19 respectively.
