The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Parowan Hugh School (Utah) 14-2 and 14-1 Friday afternoon in the Dawg Pound. New Bulldog coach Justin Goodsell has his hands full as he molds his young team during the pre-season before Sunrise League play begins. The young Bulldogs lost their first game 13-2 to the Rams which featured a no-hitter shared by two Parowan throwers. Young Bulldog starter Dillon Fuqua pitched well enough to win some games but the lack of firepower hurt the Dawgs chances. The Rams jumped out to a 5-2 lead after five innings helped by errors by the Bulldog infield. Fuqua was pulled at the end of five innings and two Bulldog relievers could not shut down the Ram attack. The Rams scored six runs in the sixth inning on three hits and added two more in the seventh to win easily 13-2. Fuqua finished with 7 strikeouts for his day’s work. The Dawgs could not mount any offensive attack in the second game and fell 14-1 to the Rams. The Bulldogs travel to Pahrump on Monday March 9 before returning home to face Western on Tuesday March 10.
